Includes all non-educational, non-professional theatre groups. Non-professional is defined as a company in which the group identifies itself as “amateur” or “non-professional” in the company bylaws. To be considered, shows must run for a minimum of two weeks, or long enough to allow a reviewer to attend followed by a minimum of two members of the awards committee. A single reviewer is sent to review a show within the first week of performance. Based solely on that performance, the reviewer completes a recommendation form. If no elements of the show are recommended, the Awards Judicial Committee is not required to attend. In the event that onhamptonroads.com is unable to send an unbiased reviewer, two members from the Awards Judicial Committee will attend the show all production elements. (An unbiased reviewer being defined as one with no connection to the venue, cast, or production.) If a show is recommended for any award, at least two members of the Awards Judicial Committee will attend the show on or before closing night. Both members will complete a Judicial Scoring form. At the end of the theatre season (theatre season being defined in the dates below), Judicial Scoring forms for all shows will be evaluated. The five elements in each category with the highest evaluated score will be announced as the nominees at the OHR awards ceremony. The highest of these scores will be declared the winner of the award at that time. Onhamptonroads.com reserves the right to create specialized awards to honor significant achievement in the season. Such awards may include, but are not limited to, Best Season, Best Directorial Concept, Greatest Contribution to the Arts, Best Pit Orchestra, etc. Onhamptonroads.com reserves the right to examine and, in cases, change the awards process at any time if there is a founded belief that the integrity of the system has been compromised. If a substantive belief is brought to the editors of the company, the editors must then hold an investigation to determine the validity of the claim. The 2006-2007 Season includes productions mounted from August 2006 to June 2007, with the intention that the Awards Ceremony for that season be scheduled for July 2007.
