 Newcomers to
the Tidewater area (and with the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and
Coasties comings and goings we have tons of them) see Hampton Roads as
just another strip mall sprawl. So, if a newbie came up to you (without
making you want to send them for a long walk off a short Ocean View
pier) and asked, "Where do YOU go when you want to see a good Country
band and have a couple of cold ones" where WOULD you tell them to
go...uh...once they figured out you were just kidding about "Hell"?There are the obvious places we townies take for granted that are "off the map" for those less aquainted with our history drenched and artistically rich area. Ok, so maybe not "rich." Let's agree on, say... "comfortable ." Bars, restaurants, concert halls, theaters and night clubs spend good money in advertising to lure customers through their doors. Ya know what? Talk is cheap.
Consider YOU as a contributor and reader might find your as yet undiscovered favorite restaurant to be in Deep Creek, Main Street Suffolk or Oyster Point or favorite Tuesday night open mike hang out to be a blues pub in downtown Hampton! We can all benefit from each others experiences. Sound good so far? Alright then, let's toss it down the well and see who salutes it! To kick it off OHR will begin with the questions and see what answers we get. We can formulate a poll and in time provide a list of places folks like to go. We will wait to begin posting tallied results, but your comments will appear as part of the 'Where Do You Go' forum thread. You are welcome to answer one or as many as you would like. If enough interest is shown, who knows where this might go! If there isn't we know where this will go and quickly. IT ONLY WORKS IF FOLKS ARE WILLING TO SHARE THEIR EXPERIENCES AND OPINIONS! Check back often. We can't think of every diversion. You are welcome to come up with your own category (keep it clean) and if there appears to be interest, OHR will add it to the list. Remember. "Where Do You Go When..." will be a living and developing thing. So, get yer two cents worth in! Naturally, that two cents will cost you a dollar in tax. Here's an OHR guarantee.
