The more successful you become, the bigger the bullseye on your head.
OnHamptonRoads.com(OHR) went down late Friday night (10/27). We took the site offline intentionally after noticing an hacker intrusion on our server. OHR remained offline until Wednesday (11/1), as we carefully moved the site to a new server - sanitizing all of the code, and boosting the security on that server. It always surprises me that there are people who will thoughtlessly do damage to another person. In this case, we may never know what the hacker was after, but we are taking every precaution to ensure that the damage has been contained and prevent this from happening again. In a way, we should take this as a compliment. We are getting big enough to be noticed. And with great success and noteriety comes great responsibility... actually no: it comes with a big target. We do apologize for being down for these five days, and we promise to continue to fight to bring you everything that is ... On Hampton Roads. It's On. -PJ FreebournManaging Editor onhamptonroads.com |
